Hi there,

You can force the iPhone to restart by pressing and holding the power button (top button) and the home button (below the screen) for 5 or more seconds. A red "Slide to Power Off" will appear. Keep holding the buttons and it will restart.

If you still get a vibrating, check to make sure one of the apps you have installed isn't doing it. The only apps that can do this are the stock Apple apps or the apps that have Push ability (check Settings > Notifications).
