Have just purchased Roxio: CD Spin Doctor 6 for my Mac running 10.5.8

Recordings seem to be going fine, but when I save them there is a lot of induced noise on the recording. Solution?

What kind of noise? Scratches, pops, hiss or something else?
How is the equipment connected?

I had neglected to turn on "Auto-Capture" for transferring LP's to the computer. K
