I am trying to set my mac (it is about 3 years old) to run

Resolved Question:

I am trying to set my mac (it is about 3 years old) to run on the internet at home. It is picking up the wireless network, but I don't know how to get it to read off the network cable, which I know is working because my PC notebeek is getting it fine.

Any ideas?

1) Turn off the airport on the Mac by clicking on the icon at the top of screen and selecting [Turn Airport off].
2) Connect the network cable to the Mac
3) Run the [System Preferences] and select [Network]
4) Look for Ethernet in the list and select it.
5) If you have a static IP for your Mac, then make sure [Manually] is selected in the Configure drop down and set all fields appropriately. If your router has a DHCP server (many of them do), then make sure [Using DHCP] is selected.
6) Click [Apply] to apply the changes.
