It should be an advantage to have a working SMTP with Mail. Re you using the same port number and authentication on both Mail and Thunderbird?

t'bird the port was set at 465 with ssl
mail had no port with ssl

i changed them both to no port w/ssl.

no dice.

Most outgoing servers need authentication so spammers don't send messages through open servers. Click on the button for authentication and use your email address for the username and your password XXXXX XXXXX same as your email password.
