How can I update software on my Mac when it is a pre-owned computer with former owner's name still on the apple id logon?

Yes, I have the original discs

We have a couple of options.


The first is to reload the machine and the second is to reset the master and account passwords


Needless to say reloading is usually the cleanest way to do this as we can make sure there is no garbage left over from the old owner.
