When I attempt to open up a photograph that I have downloaded

This answer was rated:

When I attempt to open up a photograph that I have downloaded on my desktop, an error code - 10660 keeps coming up.

Can you look at the Info window for the photos and tell me what the extension is?

Do this:
click once on a photo
Go to the File Menu and choose Get Info.
Look for the section titled 'Name & Extension'
Turn down the triangle if needed.
Tell me what the extension is for the photo. It will be the 3 letters after the dot (.)

Hi Mike,
The extension is jpg.
Thanks, Customer
Ok. That is normal.

Now look in that same window and what application is set to open?

Look just below the Name & Extension of the Get Info window in the Open With section.

What Application is set there?

Customer: replied 8 years ago.
It says preview
Now go to your Applications folder and make sure Preview is in there.

Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Aha- it said preview was put in the trash ( I have little monster children)!
There you go.

Put it back in the Applications folder.
Now, if you want yopur camera to open iPhoto, go to iPhoto and open Preferences. In there you can set it to open when a camera is connected.

Se picture, the menu at the bottome determines what to do when a camera is connected:
