I was trying to back up my computer, and dragged the Documents

Customer Question

I was trying to back up my computer, and dragged the Documents Icon on the left side of the window into the icon of the Rocstor on my desktop. It went poof! I am freaking out! Help!

Don't worry, it's just an alias - or shortcut - that disappeared. You didn't lose your files. You can get it back by:

1) Go to the window where it used to be
2) Choose File->Preferences...
3) Click "Sidebar"
4) Make sure there is a checkbox next to Documents

That'll put it back in the list.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions. Kind regards,

Hi again,

I should note... you can't back up your files in the way you were trying to, that's why it went poof. Instead, once you have the Documents icon back, single-click on it and manually select all of the files in your documents folder and drag them onto your backup drive. Or, you can choose Select All from the Edit menu.

I hope this helps! Kind regards,
