What version of OS X?

Did you delete it from the Folder or from the dock?

hi vers ion 10.5.5
from itunes folder. lost that too.

OK. Did you look in the Applications Folder to see if they are still there?

System Preferences is usually in the Applications folder, as is iTunes.

If they are not there, then you may have to re-install Mac OS X and then upgrade again to get them back. At least for System Preferences.

For iTunes, that can be downloaded from Apple at this link.

Make sure they are not actually in the Applications Folder first.
