What type of printer is it?

Is this printer hooked up to a Mac or a PC?
Customer: replied 9 years ago.
It is a Brother Fax 4100e
It is hooked up to a desktop running Windows 2000

Thank you

Ok, when you go into the printers on the Windows 2000 computer, right click the Brother printer and click Sharing...

Make sure that you have Share this printer radio button selected and have a name for the printer.

Click OK.

Now go into the MacBook, click the Apple menu>System Preferences

Click on Print & Fax

Click the "+" icon

A box opens up click the Windows tab, and navigate to the computer and printer that you just named.

After it finds the printer and appropriate driver, click Add.

This should allow you to print on the MacBook Pro.

Hey Aggie,

I am running 10.4.11 version. When I click the + sign there is no WINDOWS tab. I have 3 choices:

Default Browser, IP Printer and More Printers. When I click on More Printers the dialogue box comes up where I can see the computer in my workgroup. When I select that computer, the "Printer Model" drop-down box stays gray so I can't choose a printer. This is where I've been stuck.

My number is XXXXX if you're allowed to call. I'm up...thanx!

Sorry, somehow I lost your thread and just found it again.

I would suggest that you download the driver for the printer for OS X 10.4 which can be found here:

and install it on the Mac.

Restart the mac and then try again to set up the printer.
