What type of Mac do you have, and also what version of OS X are you running?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Mac OS X 10.4.11 on a 1 GHz PowerPC G4
Expert:  Aggie Mac Master replied 8 years ago.
What will most likely solve the problem is deleting both versions and reinstalling only version 8.

Uninstaller states distiller 7 not a legal application and won't comply

Use Appzapper, it can be downloaded here:

http://www.appzapper.com/

It will uninstall anything, it is the one piece of software I can't be without.

luv'd appzapper; zapped both 7 and 8 distillers and reinstalled 8 from original disk. Unfortunately it is still crashing at same point during font check at splash screen. Any other suggestions?

> also cannot use patches for acrobat 8, it's grayed out; see fm research that
> you should go in order 8.01, 8.011, 8.02 etc but no such earlier updates
> exist on Adobe's site, just the 812 all
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
am Accepting because of your efforts
but problem still exists
NEED distiller, d~~~it

Did you attempt to uninstall again with appzapper after reinstalling? It may be that the uninstaller from Adobe left some files. It's a long shot but worth a try.

You're gonna get a freebie ... will reopen this and "accept" but actually figured it out myself. Was right earlier when I suggested font problem. This is my home computer and have been a total slob (emphasized) in font management. Dumped Suitcase 10 (not meant for X), loaded FontExplorer X and deactivated over 4000 (FOUR THOUSAND) fonts! Voila! Distiller Works! Thx again, anyway, and would put this at top of my list for potential problems.
