Customer Question

My Mac suddenly stopped seeing CDs, blank or written. I have Leopard installed and a Pioneer DVD/CD Drive. It was working fine and stopped seeing the CDs after I had already burned several.

Do DVDs mount/show up on your computer when you put them in?
Do CDs mount/show up on your computer when you put them in?

Does the CD/DVD drive eject when you push the eject key?

DVDs mount and show up and I can read and write to them.

CDs do not mount or show up and eventually they auto eject.

The CD/DVD ejects when I push the eject key.

I suspect you have a failed DVD/CD drive. You will need to replace the drive.

If you computer still has AppleCare warranty, send it back to Apple to get it fixed.
