Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your LX yourself? What have you tried so far?

1998 Lexus lx 400; I have aproblem with car door locks , it drains battery dead, my micanic disconnected it and it's fine but I have to open/close manually with keys, he doesn't know which part is faulty, can you kindly help, thanks

Before the mechanic disconnected the lock system were any of the locks acting up to where they were locking and unlocking on their own or possibly making noise?

Without the information I requested in my first response, I can only give you a general answer on this, but I hope this helps with what you're looking for on this if it does not then feel free to reply.

With what you have described here this sounds to be a fault with the instrument ECU/Control module located behind the center of the dash area. If this ECU is acting up/failing internally this issue will occur to where it has to be replaced. I recommend having this checked/tested to see if it is failing and if found to be at fault it will need to be replaced.
