did you bench bleed the master cylinder before installing it?

Ask Your Own Lexus Question
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
I have also tried 3 other master cylinders. The last one was an original advics unit. I only started getting a sudden soft pedal recently though, even with the new master cylinder. I put my old one back on.
Lexus Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 6 months ago

do you happen to have an abs light on?

Ask Your Own Lexus Question
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
no, this car has no abs module. Could it be the booster check valve?
Lexus Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 6 months ago

it can be, but if you remove the check valve and are only able to blow through one side then its ok.

the fluid was new. I bench bled the system and then bled it from the two front lines. This issue happens randomly. Air in the lines you would feel right away
Lexus Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 6 months ago

with the vehicle off and you pump up the pedal do you have a good pedal?

Only thing is at times, rarely though, maybe every hundred or two hundred pumps I feel the pedal gets a little weaker like the brakes don't engage as well. Someone said it could be that I have a little front rotor run-out.
Lexus Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 6 months ago

no, run out you would feel all the time.

I feel the warpage at times but this car naturally has a lighter pedal. I would if it's normal I get the occasional somewhat spongy feel or not.
Lexus Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 6 months ago

I wondering if the hoses are internally deteriorating a little.

Ask Your Own Lexus Question
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
That is what I was thinking. How would u tell. Last time I checked about two months ago, I didn't see any buldges or real cracks
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
Or even less, probably around several weeks
Lexus Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 6 months ago

you really cant. its a shot in the dark. sometimes the insides of the hoses peel away and pieces act like a check valve. theres no way to see that though

you think it might be one of the rubber lines. Should I worry about taking the car out or no?
Lexus Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 6 months ago

I do think it is. I would not worry about taking the car out. just replace the front 2 hoses as soon as you can
