Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose). I'm here to help 365 days a year, but not every hour of the day. I try to prevent delays as much as possible. Please understand I am not there and can only advise based on what you tell me. Let's get started.

Can you go into more detail, not sure what hard lock left and right means?

Will not steer at all have rack out NOW on floor. Vice grip on pinion locked

What do you know about the eps system on the LS, I am sure it is not supposed to lock up. I now have two that locked.

An electronic steering gear will not move when manually turning the input. Did you use a scan tool to check the systems codes and electronics?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
snap on, codes followed and cleared. so if car loses power it won't steer, I can see losing power steering to manual by not lock up?

Best I can tell from the diagrams, yes if electrical power is lost while driving the steering wheel will not turn. Losing electrical power while driving without prior noticed issues telling the driver to pull over are very rare.

We have looked at schematic also and did not come to that conclusion. Failsafe no power would allow manual steer. We can't figure out if in car hooked up or out on floor it is locked.
