Customer Question

Car is completely dead. Believe it is battery.
JA: Have you tested the battery with a voltmeter? And can you see if it's leaking or not?
Customer: I have not yet. Was going to do that.
JA: What is the model/year of your Lexus?
Customer: 2011
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have looked at fuse box and checked battery cables.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: I also tried putting key fob to auto starter to see if that was b problem and would not start.

Thank you for allowing me to help you with this concern today and am sorry to hear that this is happening. I will have to ask you a few questions so that I can get a better understanding as to what may be going on with your Lexus.

Do you know how old the battery is?

When you press the horn, does it sound loud like it normally would?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
No horn
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I bought car used from dealer a year ago.

Ok, it really does sound like the battery is bad (possibly a bad cell). Have you tried to jump start it?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Not yet.

Ok, you can try and jump start it. It not work 100% to get the car started if the battery is that bad but of you do and then the horn makes a sound or the headlights can come on, then you know for sure that the battery is bad. I personally would just install a new battery as this is what we see most often.
