You can demand that the dentist pay for the implants, as you suggested. If the dentist refuses to pay for the implants, then your recourse would be to file a lawsuit for malpractice. In order to win malpractice claim, you would have to prove that the dentist failed to provide the standard of care that a reasonable dentist would have provided in that scenario. This means that you would need to have an expert witness testify that the dentist did something wrong, and that caused you to lose your teeth. This is not a small claims type of lawsuit, and so I strongly suggest that you retain a local attorney.
