    Can a non profit organization buy equipment such as a tanning bed and a boat and use it for personal use and or also lease out donated and purchased equipment and property from himself or his family to his own non profit ( he’s setting the price paying himself and family basically ) .
    I am a volunteer for a organization that puts retreats on for veterans . I’m worried there is mis use of funds. For example a tanning bed that was bought that was used for the CEO and his bride to be to tan before the wedding and a pontoon used for trips for themselves. They are currently on a camping trip with the boat. The CEO told me the organization bought these for the “retreats”.
    The organization also leases the property for the retreats from the CEO who family owns the property. Equipment donated and also equipment purchased for use at the retreat ( gym equipment, out buildings ect.) on the property along with the property is rented out as a vacation property when not used ( rented) by the organization for retreats. They also advertise the “lodge” as a vacation rental between retreats on the non profits social media page. The non profit does not profit from the vacation rental the CEO and his family do as owners of the “lodge” Is it legal for a non profit CEO to do this .
