I got furloughed from my fulltime position end of June after
I got furloughed from my fulltime position end of June after using my FMLA due to childcare for three months (April-June). So I applied for unemployment through my employer. However, I worked prn early in the year for two months (Feb-April) once or twice per week as needed for the months of Feb and march in Virginia. So this second employer needed me in end of July and since I said I could not work due to childcare, since my spouse was stuck abroad due to lockdown, they went ahead and put my return to work date on the unemployment website. My benefits were therefore stopped. When my spouse got a flight back end of August I indicated the same to them and told them I could now work, but its until this week that they had some hours for me. My employment status with them is still PRN. I reached out to unemployment agent who said since my position is "as needed (prn)" this employer should not indicate any return date. And it should only be indicated if I have my fulltime hours. This employer has refused to adjust this on my unemployment status. My kind request is, what would your advice be, and who else should I approach. I am desperate because my benefits have not been paid from beginning of August. My fulltime employer still has the lab closed due to high risk. I have been searching for jobs, done some interviews but still nothing is forthcoming. Thank you so much … read more
