I had a credit card debt from when I was married. My ex
I had a credit card debt from when I was married. My ex planned to try to get a deal of paying it off and we did not make payments to get this “deal” he was talking about. Well, we separated and the debt didn't get paid. They put a judgement on me and I made monthly payments for years. When the divorce was finalized the judge gave my ex the debt, but he never made payments, and I have been making them. I am a single mom and rent a room in our house. I just had to evict the lady for nonpayment (we had to go to court, and I have the eviction and the amount she owes and didn't pay). I called the collection agency and asked if I could pay a lower amount, and if I could make the payment a week late. She said she would get back to me. The following week she called and said she could not make the change in the monthly Payments and I paid and got current. I believe my auto-draft got out of whack from my request. I have been focusing on getting my non paying tenet out of my house and trying to pay bills with the less income, I didn't realize the payment wasn't autodrafted. They did not call, email, or send a letter saying the payments were late and they were going to take money out of my checking accounts. The money came out on Friday and it was my entire mortgage payment. Please tell me what I can do to go back to making my regular payments and being extremely careful not to miss any. Thank you for reading this very long message. … read more
