In process of closing probate in Kentucky. I have questions
I have questions regarding probate and impact on tenant's privacy. I am the executrix for my dad's estate, now in final closing of probate. Sister signed her share of the house to me a few months ago and now filed with the court pending closure. Sis removed the house keys and made cheap duplicates for me. I've made periodic requests for the original set, but she refuses. A couple of months ago, I rented the house and made duplicate keys from my duplicates. The keys are such poor quality only 1 in 6 keys work. I made a final request for the keys, but she threatened me with harassment charge if I ask again. She now states the settlement was basically just to "shut me up" and not valid. She is demanding to know the name of the renter and is very upset that I asked her not to go on the property without my consent as it will be a violation of Ky law. She is now furious and states there is no such law and she can go to the property if chooses. She seems obsessed with knowing the details of "who" is in our dad's house and threatened to "take everything from dad's estate" if I don't reveal the name of the occupant. Also, several months before this incident, she sent her spouse to the property despite clear warning of trespass. My concern is minimize legal liability and safety risk. Sister is not violent, but I don't her just showing up and harassing the tenant or stopping by to check on the property. Her refusal to turn over the keys and growing frustration over who is living there is troubling. The renter, by the way, is ideal and is an elderly man in poor health. … read more
