I’m sorry to hear about your situation! Because the time and expense of fighting this would not be worth it and because he is an international traveler, it would probably make sense to plead no contest and pay the fine. He can usually pay the fine right away or make arrangements with the court after the fact. It's unfortunate he's in this situation, but this would probably be the easiest way to stay out of jail and continue on with his life.
