I have a landlord tenant issue. Missouri. I am the tenant. I
I am the tenant. I have been in my home for a year, & I'm not behind. My lease expired in May, & I was asked to re-sign. I have a slum lord. I am 29, with little experience about renting which she knows & has been playing her 20yr landlord card with me. I went to sign the lease at her office, which stated I was good until May of 2020. Long story short, I never received a copy when I asked upon leaving her office. She said she had to get it signed by the owner. The owner allegedly lives out of state, I never spoken with her, and there's no way I can contact her per the landlord. I wished I would have taken a picture, but never in a million years would I thought I would be getting evicted after signing my lease. I have text messages. 2 later, my air conditioning unit went out, during a heat wave & which I have 2 babies. She then tells me she wants me to vacate her property in 30 days because the unit will cost 3,000 & she doesn't have money to pay for it. In my lease it states that any maintenance issue is the landlords responsibility but since I automatically went to a month to month with my acknowledgment I don't know how that works. I had to go into my rent money to get air conditioners which cost almost all of the rent which is 700. Another convo I had with her she said if I wanted to stay I would have to pay my rent in full & sign something stating I would be responsible for all maintenance issues! I refused to sign. She said I need to be out verbally with nothing in writing. I think she wants me to surrender my house … read more
