Possible medical malpractice. California and yes. Is there a
During an admission at Vista Del Mar Psychiatric Hospital during October 29, 2016 through November 1, 2016, without any prior conversation or any type of explanation, on October 31, 2016, while asleep, I was pulled from my bed and made to sleep in the patient lounge because apparently I was bothering the other individual in my room. The lounge was very cold, and very bright. I was not able to sleep. At about 6:30 AM the next morning I was woke up and my bed was taken back to my room, but I was not allowed to sleep anymore. I was left in the patient lounge there with only my gown on. I was asked if I wanted some juice or anything thing and I said I wanted to sleep. I was told that the other individual in my room was still sleeping and that I could not go in my room. I asked why the other individual was receiving preferential treatment. I could not understand that if she was the one with the problem, then why wasn't she moved out of the room. I was told by the night nurse that she was not receiving preferential treatment but that I was the one being disruptive and keeping her awake. I state again, nothing was mentioned to me about being too loud and/or disruptive until the night nurse was in the process of pulling my blankets down for me to get out of bed to move to the patient lounge! I was finally allowed to go to my room to put on some clothes, after which the night nurse asked me if I wanted some medicine. I asked for what. She said to calm me down. I told her I don't do drugs to calm down. I was needless to say furious at the turn of events. This, combined with the state of depression I was in and the suicidal ideation I was experiencing, damaged any progress in my treatment for depression, suicidal ideation, and insomnia. In reference to the insomnia I experience includes bad dreams similar to night terrors, which I do not remember when I wake up. Absolutely no consideration was given to my illnesses, which I can only attribute to discrimination. From about 11:30 the night before until about 2:00 p.m. on October 31, 2016 I did not have a room or bed as they were taken from me. I had to use the "time out" bathroom. The last instructions I was given by the night nurse was that I could not go in my room if the other individual chose to be there and if she chose to be in the patient lounge I could not be in there. The night nurse told me that the day shift supervising nurse (Nurse Sonja) would talk to me. However, I asked to speak to her on five different occasions and she never responded to my request. When the day shift came in, the charge nurse was very disrespectful to me and would not even talk to me. She stated that, “I have [this] to go do right now, and when I am done I will see about whether or not I will talk to you then.” It literally took an hour and a half before anyone would give me some Tylenol for my headache.… read more
