What are the consequences of having a car repossessed?

Customer Question

What are the consequences of having a car repossessed?
JA: What state is this in? And how old is the car?
Customer: California. It's a 2015 with only 11,000 miles on it.
JA: Has anything been filed or reported?
Customer: No. Payments are current, but I owe more than it's current value.
JA: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: My credit score is already low.

If payments are current why was it repossessed? How long ago was it repossessed?
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
It wasn't repossessed. I would like to get out from under the car and the loan because it is under water. I owe more than it's worth.

It is saying that payment failed for the phone call
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Never mind. You are just a scam.

I am not sure why you think that. I am a licensed attorney trying to help you. You certainly have the right to turn in your car. The finance company will sell it at auction. If there's still a balance, then legally and theoretically they can try and collect on it. If you do not pay that balance then you can have a negative mark on your credit
