Customer Question

A customer is not paying for work performed in October and November of 2016. The business was sold in December and they said it is the responsibility of the previous owner. They have retained us to continue service but which of the two companies owes for the oustanding balance? They are in the same location and only the company suffix has changed. The original name is ***** ***** well partially.
JA: Because employment law varies from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?
Customer: Yes, Fremont, California.
JA: Has anything been filed or reported?
Customer: Not yet.
JA: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: They have been a customer for many years; if that makes a difference.
