I was recently sued for a debt that is over four years old

Customer Question

Hello I was recently sued for a debt that is over four years old from a car loan dealer in missouri. I moved to california over three years ago and haven't lived in missouri in over 4. The statue of limitations in California is 4 years in this case. Even if the get a judgement against me it would it be hard to collect? woundn't they have to sue me in California to collect?
JA: Because laws vary from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?
Customer: missouri
JA: Has anything been filed or reported?

You are subject to Missouri statute of limitations if that is where the breach or default occurred. In Missouri there is a 10 year statute of limitations. If you did not respond and they took a default judgement they simply have to then file the judgement/order in California to enforce it.

Does that make sense?
