I have a friend who is a broker- he closed a deal on some

Customer Question

I have a friend who is a broker- he closed a deal on some properties- but he never received his compensation- they are also refusing to give him answers
JA: Because laws vary from state to state, could you tell me what state is this in?
Customer: what does one do in this situation?
JA: Have you talked to a lawyer yet?
Customer: he tried, but they wanted a retaining fee- he thought they would simply do a percentage after the dispute is resolved
JA: Anything else you think the lawyer should know?
Customer: yes, he asked me as his friend to intervene by reaching out to them on his behalf- I tried, but they got hostile with me

Is there a written contract between the broker and the person who owes the compensation?

do you have my attached file?
Expert:  Thelawman2 replied 11 months ago.

I got your file. What I am looking for though is an agreement where it shows the broker should have received compensation for the work performed.
