Hello. My name is Alex.
Thank you for your question.
I will be happy to provide you with information you are seeking for educational purposes only.

How do you know that a third party did not receive the information contained in an email?

Is this issue being raised by the patient, another employee or anyone else?

Thank you for your follow up.

Generally, as long as, the patient private information was not exposes to a third party (even if email was sent by an error), such error would not be considered HIPAA violation.

I wish you the best of luck!
