I'm looking into assisted living mom with dementia. Medicare

Customer Question

I'm looking into assisted living for my mom with dementia. Medicare mentions they do a 5 year look back concerning financials. Can you tell me when the 5 years begin? Is it when she gets admitted to the facility or does it start at a different time?

This is Dr. David

medicare will not pay for long term nursing home care

but medicaid, which is a state program will pay for long term nursing home care.

but medicaid will do a financial evaluation for the past 5 years of the client from time of potential admission
