To answer your question directly, unless the conviction has been sealed or expunged, it will show up on a background check. The State of Florida, like most states, reports criminal convictions to the FBI, who keeps a database. The employer then sends a request to the FBI to check their database and your conviction shows up. You would need to get it sealed or expunged to prevent that from happening.
