I was staying at a hotel with a bar attached. While at the bar, I met some people, one a young man who "picked me up" so to speak. We spent some time together and met up the following night also. The second night, he was clearly drunk already and was buying everyone drinks. I stayed for awhile [traveling and working, what else is there to do] and then he hit me, he hit me twice real hard on my pubic bone. I was so shocked and angry I just stormed out of there and went to my hotel room and to bed. The next day when I got home from work I could not open my door, I had been locked out. I went to the front desk and was informed I would need to pay my bar tab first. I was completely floored. The drunk asshole who assaulted me had charged his whole tab to my room number and left, now I was forced to pay it. It didn't matter to anyone that I had not approved this and that this was not my tab, I wasn't getting into my room until this was paid. No one cared that I had been assaulted, even the police were called and they said they could do nothing. I am still pissed off that I was bullied by the hotel and bar into paying this tab for a stranger that assaulted me in the first place. I only know the name he gave me and I have a copy of the receipt he signed that I was forced to cosign. The whole situation just feels so bizarre and yes, I shouldn't be consorting with strangers in bars, I get it, but I didn't deserve any of this. Do I have any recourse whatsoever in a situation such as this and what would it even be? Should I file a police report anyway? Can I sue the hotel and bar for doing this to me and allowing it to happen. A week later there were people running up and down the hallways beating on my door and laughing. I was terrified. This is at The Grand Hotel in Simi Valley.
