Does a reastraining order have to be entered into NCIC or is it optional?
Hello and welcome

My Name is XXXXX XXXXX I will provide the information that you require today

It is not mandatory to register a Restraining Order.

The NCIC is a national database and if you register it, then all law enforcement in the US, Canada and PR will have access to it. However, whether registered or not, you keep it on your person and if there is a violation, you contact the police and they need to enforce it.

The benefit of registering, of course, is if you do not have a copy on your person or you lose it and there is a violation. If it is in the NCIC system then the officers in any state, Canada, PR and the US will be able to enforce it

Please let me know, if you have other questions or need clarification in this regard.
