someone called my health insurance company claiming to be my husband and reported me as dead so they cancelled my policy . one- is the caller guilty of insurance fraud and two- can the company legally terminate my policy without a death certificate? (I do not believe my husband would do this, it had to be a prank or a problem within the company itself.)
Hello and welcome

Thank you for the opportunity to provide you information in this regard

Yes, the caller could be charged with crimes such as fraud

And the company should not have eliminated you without a death cert, as is generally against policy not to have the death cert though not against the law.

I suggest you can contact the Ohio Insurance Commission and have them get on the company about reinstatement
