Can an email be a legal document? Manager/Owner. At will
I gave 11 days written notice by email on a Sunday night. My notice was accepted by both owners by email. I already had 4 days of vacation scheduled during that time. My grandmother passed away that wednesday and the funeral was the following wednesday. I had to travel from indiana to Kansas for the funeral and the viewing. So, I had previously scheduled and approved vacation on monday, tuesday the first week. Then I had scheduled vacation monday, tuesday the 2nd week, but then I had to travel for a funeral on tuesday, wednesday, thursday. I had told them that Thursday would be my last day. Since, I was going to be gone the entire last four days, I told them I would come in for part of my monday even though it was a vacation day. So, I worked part of the day on Monday. I should have received my last paycheck last week, but have not yet received anything. I sent the owner an email Monday this week, and he just responded Tuesday "Do you feel like we owe you a week of pay for the 4 hours you worked that week?". So yesterday, wednesday, I stopped by, showed him my grandmothers Funeral obituary and asked him if I was getting a pay check. He seemed to think that he didn't owe me.… read more
