Customer Question

Hey there....

Dumb question.... But do you have any idea what the tax rate, as far as owning property in between Delta Colorado (Delta count) and Wilits CA, (Humboldt county)

Delta County, Colorado real property tax is currently $380 per $100,000 of fair market value.

Wilits, California real property tax is currently $1,107 per $100,000 of assessed value.

The difficulty in comparing the differences is that in California, assessed value can differ substantially from fair market value, because under Proposition 13, the tax assessor cannot increase the property tax rate by more than 1% per each year of ownership -- regardless of any change in fair market value. Whereas in Colorado, the assessor can adjust the tax rate to fair market value in each tax year.

Hope this helps.
