On Friday, June 16th, 2017,9:40pm, I took a flight from Larnaca, Cyprus, to xxx, UK, for a scheduled appointment/meeting that I had the following day, Saturday, June 17th, 2017, between 2pm – 4pm, with Mr. xxx. The Owner and Head of Sales of xxx, a “specialist piano dealer and wholesaler” as officially stated on the homepage of the company's website xxx. Our meeting was held at the premises of xxx, in order for me to see the result of the piano and of the piano restoration services that have been applied on the specific piano, both of which, were bought by me in 2014, from Mr. xxx and his company xxx, which is located at xxx. The piano is a rare, golden age, high-end, historic, 135 years old, pre-WW1 (First World War), C.Bechstein, with serial number xxx. This piano is of historical importance as it is the same model and brand that xxx xxx The above information is confirmed to me via email, by the C.Bechstein company. Only three such instruments exist today. My research in buying: a. this piano and b. the restoration services for the piano, was based on the information Mr. xxx and his company xxx gave to me. Before buying the piano and the restoration services, I made it very clear to Mr. xxx, that I was going to buy the piano and have the restoration services done at his piano shop, only if he could assure me that: 1. He could restore the piano to “concert level” standards of quality which is the highest standard of piano restoration. 2. The piano itself is capable of receiving such services. I have made this very clear to Mr. xxx, and I have told him that if he feels that he cannot restore the piano to concert level standards, I would still buy it, but I would have it sent for “concert level restoration” elsewhere. Specifically, I mentioned to him that I was thinking either the official C.Bechstein company in Germany, Pianofiks in Polland, or SAP also in Polland. Mr. xxx assured me he could restore the specific piano to concert level standards of quality and that the piano itself was capable of receiving such services. He also told me that after he finishes with my piano, it will be comparable to any new Steinway D or C.Bechstein D concert grand piano. As I explained to Mr. xxx, the reason I wanted the piano to be restored to such quality, is first because I am a professional pianist and piano instructor, and secondly because I will be using it in my future professional solo piano recitals and also in concerts for piano and orchestra. Since Mr. xxx assured me about the above, I bought both the piano and the restoration services on xxx , 2014, at xxx am, at the premises of xxx, from Mr. xxx (please see attachment of receipt). Unfortunately, Mr. xxx and his company xxx, failed to meet both the timeline and the quality of restoration of our agreement. Not only has it been three years since, but the piano is not even halfway finished. Further more, he was dishonestly and deliberately emailing me with misleading, misrepresenting and manipulated information regarding the restoration of my piano. Also, he always deliberately avoided to provide me with specific and clear answers in my questions. The reason for that, I feel is because he was deliberately trying to confuse me, loose track of what is going on, by extending the deadline, in the hope I would forget, get tired and stop asking him to provide me with the detailed scope of work that he promised me on xxx, 2014, and many others. When he thought he accomplished the above he started telling me that for example the price he gave me in the beginning concerning the cast iron frame does not include “X or Y”, and if I wanted concert level restoration I should send him more money in order for him to complete “X or Y” as well. He would do this with almost every part of the restoration process. Also, when I visited him in person on xxx, 2017, I told and showed him in person, specific aspects of the restoration such as the piano keys, that not only were they done poorly but also … read more
