When is a homestead considered abandoned My uncle and aunt

This answer was rated:

When is a homestead considered abandoned? My uncle and aunt are both in the nursing home; however, the uncle is taken to the house at least monthly. The house is maintained, and repairs made as needed. His wife has Alzheimer's and is unble to visit. Uncle is mentally alert, oriented and ambulatory.
Then they have not abandoned the property. You cannot buy it anyway for one half the value. Where does that come from? Ask them to quote you the statute because they can't.
