My twin daughters signed a six month contract with Suntan City

Customer Question

My twin daughters signed a six month contract with Suntan City while away at college and they require a debit card so Suntan City can automatically withdraw the money the first of each month from the account. My daughter's used their fathers debit card, they are not signers on the account and he was not present to sign or authorize it. Suntan City did not verify that even though the card clearly states his name, not their's. His account is frozen now. Does Suntan City have any legal obligation in this due to the fact that they did not get authorization from him to use his account.

Hi terri61,

Suntan City was clearly at fault for accepting that card, and can be held accountable for any damage that your husband sustained as a result thereof. The only problem is that your daughters are also at fault, and Suntan City can seek those same damages (called a cross-claim) from your daughters.
