Resolved Question:

The lawyer that they retainted has sent a letter asking for a paper trail of her assets should we answer him

DearCustomer- In any court case each party has a right to request discovery, which would include document and other records. If this is simply a letter and not a formal request by motion or through the court then you are not required to answer but at some point they have the right to obtain the information.

If the question is to provide for "a paper trail of assets" that seems vague and you could probably request a clarification of the question.
