What percentage of an employees salary is received ...

This answer was rated:

What percentage of an employee''s salary is received for state disability benefit in California? There is no personnel or benefits department at my place of employment to which I can ask any questions.

The State Disability Insurance (SDI) withholding rate for 2008 is 0.8%. The withholding only applies to the first $86,698 that an employee earns in a year so the maximum amount that will be withheld is $693.58.

Reply to Bill's Post: Bill, I thank you for the answer, however that was not the question that I was asking. "What percentage of an employee's salary is paid as disability benefit?" was my question, not what is the rate deducted from your pay. In other word, what percentage of their salary does a disabled employee receive through Califirnia State Disability?

I'm sorry, I misunderstood your question. Your benefit would be approximately 55 percent of the earnings shown in the highest quarter of your base period (based on a 12 month period that is 5 months to 12 months before the disability claim). However, for disabilities beginning January 1, 2008, or after, weekly benefits will range from $50 to a maximum of $917.
