Customer Question

I have a 7 month old male mini pig. Lately for an hour or so after eating, he likes to "chew air" possibly to make himself burp? His new thing is to put his chin on the bedpost, push down and gags himself to the point where he throws up. Then he proceeds to eat it again. Needless to say it makes a mess and is not very appealing. Should I worry and why is he doing this. Is there anyway to make him stop?

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.
Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner. If you would still like assistance, can you tell me:
How long has he been showing this behavior?
Any issues with his teeth or redness to his gums?
Has he seemed gassy, bloated, or burping more?
Has there been a recent change to his food?
Any recent history of eating odd items that could have irritated his throat?
How is he otherwise?
