Hi again,

Sorry I was away from the computer. There are several commercial vaccines available for pigs, The ones against respiratory diseases are the ones your looking for, Let me look up some bands and get back to you. VPBP's usually run about 100 F, (normal temp). The fact she is eating is good.

Hi again,

I think this would probably be the best all around swine vaccine where AR is concerned.

Parapleuro Shield P+Be (novartis)

Antibiotics would be something I would consider for this sow as well, do you have any available?

yes i do.

Customer reply replied 8 years ago

yes i do.

should i be very worried? or could this just be a cold? my pigs are not around any other animals how would she contract this. also i dont know if she was ever vaccinated as we found her one winter wandering on the road. she was around one year at the time we think.

Hi, Sorry I was away from the computer,

The blood is what concerns me. Blood makes it even better for bacteria. What antibiotics do you have available?
Ask Your Own Large Animal Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 8 years ago

im not sure of the name, we got them when she had an infection in her hoof. what antibiotics would you recomend? im sure i can get them from my local vet

Large Animal Vet: Dr. Lazarcheff, Veterinarian replied 8 years ago
There are a variety of antibiotic choices,

Oral antibiotics would include Baytil, SMZ/TMS, doxycycline

Other choices if you go the injectable route, but pigs really begin to resent that.

Check with your vet, but usually at least a week.
