My acer laptop seems...

My acer laptop seems to have a virus. It first started with my Facebook account getting closed so I called them and they ran a test and said I had a a bad virus but now I can not get anything to work. On my screen it has AUTOMATIC REPAIR

Technician's Assistant: When could you last open your Facebook?

It also has Your PC did not start correctly

Technician's Assistant: Did you recently update your software or Operating System (OS)?

My options are Restart and Advance options and they don't work.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Software Expert to know before I connect you?

No I don't recalling that I did update my software.

Try this please, choose the Automatic Repair option on that screen, then choose reset and keep my files from the next screen.

okay, try this please> press and hold the power button down for 60 seconds then power back on and try the Automatic repair again.

  1. Start your PC and select the Power icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the lock screen.
  2. While holding down the Shift key, select Restart.
  3. On the Boot options menu, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > Remove everything.

okay, power off again and then power back on and hit F11 as soon as the computer powers on, see if you can get to the Advanced Startup Options menu.

I think it was a scam. As basically, there is no way for a senior manager of FB to speak with you and tell you about a virus on your computer. Impossible for vice president of FB.

No I didnt pay anything at all but they did go in my computer to see where there are their people looking in. But I did mot give them my passwords.

How could they remotely access your computer? Did you run a program (via link) from them? Do you see what they were doing on your computer screen?

Okay, it is a scam confirmed. I think I should suggest you reinstall your computer to get rid of everything they left on your PC.
