Customer Question

I have a Toshiba satellite laptop with windows 10. It is less than a year old. I turned it off last night. When I tried to start it this morning I get nothing. It is like the power button is not working.
The power cord is fine, it is plugged in and has power. I tried taking the battery out but that didn't work.
Any other suggestions?

Hi Rick, welcome and thank you for your question. My name is ***** ***** I am glad to assist you today.

I am very sorry about your issues. Is the laptop battery removable? If yes, please do the following:

  1. Unplug the laptop from the power source, from the mains
  2. Remove the battery
  3. With the battery removed and the power source unplugged, press and hold the power button for 60 seconds
  4. After approximately 60 seconds, release the power button
  5. DO NOT insert the battery yet
  6. Plug the power adapter to the power outlet (first step)
  7. Then plug the power cord to the laptop's power slot (second step, this is important)
  8. Then turn on the laptop and see if it works this time.

Please let me know your results so that I can assist you further.
