ok, can you on the sign in screen, not sign in, but hold the SHIFT key and click on the power icon and click on restart.Keep shift held down until it has restarted and you are at a menu, then release Shift.Then click on advance, Troubleshoot, System restore and run the restore there insteadLet me know the results please.

its ok, we will try then a refresh, it will remove your programs but leave your data there. This we cannot avoid.Go back to the menu, choose Troubleshoot, then refresh my PC (not RESET)Let this complete and tell me if it then starts please.

I'm doing it but I went into the start up options and disabled anti malware on start up. It rejected previous attempts due to anti virus

I've attempted the refresh before bubut it keep prompting me for a disk that didn't come with my laptop

ok, then you have to either try the reset but this will remove all your data, or take it into a store, have them backup the data by removing the drive and putting it into another computer and then reinstalling windows if the Refresh did not work
