The laptop has the correct connection - end cap is blue and multi-pronged, but when I try to get my PowerPoint to project I get a error message that tells me the laptop cannot project on another screen and it mentions something about installing a driver.

Graphics card doesn't have proper driver and that's the reason it giving out error while you connect projector

Can you do this - Right click AMD Radeon (TM) R4 Graphics device > Click uninstall

Then right click Network Adapters > click Scan for hardware changes

This reinstall the device back. Check it has yellow exclamation mark again

Try to install below driver but its meant for Windows 8 OS, sometimes windows 8 driver supports Windows 10 too
