I have a question. I am living on rent in an apartment owned
I have a question. I am living on rent in an apartment owned by a rental property management. Last year when I renewed my lease I requested them to add a clause for month on month with 2 months' notice for vacating which they did. This year when my lease was expiring on Feb-29 2020 and they sent me lease renewal notice which did not have the month on month clause which I got added last year. I did not notice that and not even accepted/signed the lease yet. Now I gave them notice on Feb 27 to vacate the apartment on Apr-30 2020 with 2 month's notice but they are saying since I have accepted USPS mail of the new agreement they have considered that as my signature on the new lease. So since the new lease doesn't have month on month clause I will have to pay additional penalty. So my question, is it legal to consider the mail acceptance as sign on lease even though I have not physically signed on the paper nor send any confirmation over email that I accept it? Can I take legal actions against them? … read more
