Yes. Long story but this is as brief as I can get it.. Moved back to Massachusetts after my wife passed in December 2016. Was homeless until December 2017. Found and started renting a room. 5 months later, Roommate attacked me with knife because I wanted receipts due to the fact he kept upping the room rent,. His wife called police. He was arrested for assaulting a disabled person. Restraining order issued so him/wife switched apartments with their daughter/husband/ & 2 kids to the two-bedroom apartment I was renting a room. Told management that that's not good. Don't feel safe and too crowded. They moved me to a studio apartment. Unit was/is over run with mice. Heat does not cut off, remains at a minimum of 75 degrees 24 hours a day since June 2018 move in. Water leaks from laundryroom or the boiler room which is located on other side of 6 inch wall and floods my area when ever laundry room is used or boiler room leaks so it seems. Between the heat, humidity it causes from water leak, combined with mice urine and droppings, you can imagine the pleasant order created every single day. I Gave management a 93A Demand to repair. They sent eviction notices several times because I refused to pay rent due to paying to sleep elsewhere because I have MS and utilize a wheelchair mostly to get around and the unit conditions are unbearable. I've had 6 Heat Exasperations, and have had over 4 bloody noses. I also ripped my entire big toe nail off while attempting to go to the bathroom because the hallway only allows me a couple of inches in wheelchair.. Went to court. My dumbass represented myself because couldn't find help and thought the law would assist. Plaintiffs were found responsible from June thru December for the f'd up living conditions and I didn't have to pay for those months. I was told to pay from January to current. Filed Motion to Reconsider that decision because everything is still a problem and Nothing has been resolved but it was denied. I'm appealing that decision because the exact same situation and conditions that were effecting my health last year are still existing to date. Mice, Heat Will Not Shut Off and my room still gets soaked as it is now. Management doesn't respond within 4 to 5 days to vacuum water up and dry rug. Once they tried with a fan. Imagine the humidity and smell that created for me. That's why I lived abroad and spent over $9,000 in a year doing it to preserve my health. Much longer story but.. Went to court. Judge waived all of 2018 back rent from July to January. Placed order for me to pay from January to current. Was told I have 10 days to appeal, pay or be evicted. I don't see how that's even legal when the same exact conditions are ongoing and effecting my health, causing me injuries and seriously effecting my MS condition. I'm on SSDI so that was the main reason I went Pro Se. They're gonna have to take me swinging in my wheelchair because this is wrong! Also, while plumbers were working in the boiler room to fix a leak, as one went to his van to get tools, someone tried to rob him and shot him in the chest. He ran back into the building before collapsing and police were called. Since then, I went out and purchased a pellet gun because I have to sleep with balcony sliding glass door open and I'm on the first floor. Yes the AC works however my bill has quadrupled using it so to keep from going further in debt, I don't use it. Plus can not sleep with it on. I don't have much money however I will pay for information on the process to file a civil lawsuit which I will be doing. 93A demand letter was sent as per Mass Gen Law so my question is.... Who can help me ASAP and what's the cost? I have numerous witnesses from the plumber who got shot to the tenants who live in the same building and have mice and heat problems.
