First of all what is the cost of this service? I have a
I have a rental agreement for 12/13/19 - 12/31/19 for renting a room @ $655/month. Security deposit=$350, of which $100 is non-refundable. I stayed thru that period in a more expensive room ($900/m), because the landlord did not have the low-cost room available. Then I had an oral agreement to continue staying in the same room ($900/m) for a couple of weeks more, with tentative move-out date of 1/15/20. Landlord (she) agreed. Yesterday (1/4/20) at 8 pm when I texted her that I will move out on 1/11/20, she agreed. Then on 1/5/20 morning she texted that she cannot give my deposit back ($250) unless I give her a 30 day notice. There is no such mention in rental agreement, also the rental agreement itself does not mention anything about length of stay. The receipt of rent just mentions the rent I paid for Dec13-Dec31. I want to know my legal rights. Since the agreement does not talk about any period of stay can I just leave by paying the lower rent mentioned in the rental agreement? Or, do I have to pay $900 as I continued to stay in … read more
