We are renting a house in Mira Mesa for 8years, we are
Hello,We are renting a house in Mira Mesa for 8years, we are moving out end of the month.Landlord inspected the property on Oct 26, advised us rent will go up $300 more, my family decided to move out and find a better home. On Nov 1st, I gave a 30-day notice to vacate the property Nov 30. The next day landlord called me offering us to stay, rent $2600 and plans to install new garage doors, replace very old fence, concrete front and back yard. I told her we already made our final decision. We started moving out Nov 15 to give ourselves time to clean the old rental. Nov 9th, landlord sent couple of contractors for fence and concrete. Nov 16th, she has like 5 different contractors again to do the estimates from 10:30am to 2:00pm. I left my 70y/o Mom at the old rental for them to open the door or if they need to enter the side gate. At around 2pm they were all done, landlord told my Mom that she was gonna do a 5minute inspection of the property, there she was complaining about everything to my Mom about the condition of her house, obviously we are moving out so house is a mess. Mom understand a little English but can't explain herself much her primary language is Tagalog. She would not stop and Mom told her not to talk to her but instead talk to myself because I am her contact person. She was doing her inspection for about 20mins and still complaining, talking about the security deposit and Mom again told her not to talk to her about those things. Mom had brain tumor surgery in 2015 and the last thing we want to do is stress her out. But landlord won't stop, Mom had a very bad headache and she asked the landlord to please give her water. Landlord gave her water and left. Mom called me to go to her because of all the complains, I was at the new house so I drove about 5-10mins, when I got at the old house I saw my Mom was so weak, so red and complaining about her headache. I called 911, paramedics came her Blood Pressure was almost 200/?, they took her to Scripps. As I was waiting for the paramedics, I was at the living room and from the window I saw my landlord drove away. She abandoned my Mom with her condition after stressing my Mom out. When paramedics left, I was at the garage and saw landlord's car driving across the street. I called her and wanted to asked her what she did to Mom but did not answer my call.Next day she left me a message that she didn't do anything wrong, she only inspect the house for a quick 5mins and left. Our preliminary inspection is on Nov 20 at 1pm. I believe she is in violation of CA civil code 1927.What are our options? Please advise. … read more
